Xbox 360Okay, I’ve read a lot of negative blog posts about the Xbox 360 so let’s switch it up and go with a positive one. Despite actually having problems with mine I will still defend it. This article is going to be more of a rebuttal to Colin’s article on The Uber Geeks, “The main reason I’m not getting an Xbox 360.”

1. Mistakes are always there

If you don’t believe this look at every single console launch since the shift from cartridges to discs. Both PlayStations suffered from overheating problems and just like the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 2 to this day still has a tendency to eat discs if you stand it vertically.

The only contender who has managed to release systems that aren’t totally flawed within the last generation is Nintendo. However, I wouldn’t call Nintendo a true competitor right now…not until I see what the Revolution can do. But this may also be due to the fact that the GameCube did not push it to the limits, so there’s bound to be less issues there.

2. Need For Speed: Most Wanted

Okay I am a sucker for the series. If I could live with just two game series for the rest of my life it would be a close call between that and Grand Theft Auto. Yet Colin says there is no killer launch titles and to an extent I agree with him, the majority of the games at launch could already be bought and played on PS2 or the original Xox.

However, if you want to play those games to their maximum potential (or at least at the current state of technology and gaming) you’re going to want a 360 with a High Definition TV.

3. I have nothing to do right now.

Unlike Colin I am not a busy person. I go to work and I come home and I relax. I have presents to buy for the upcoming holiday but the amount I invested into it is not going to make or break someones Christmas. And since I do my Christmas shopping from the computer for the most part I need something to do while I am doing absolutely nothing.

  1. I worry about your first point. Should we get used to vendors releasing buggy/crappy products just so they can make a buck? Is it OK for MSFT to push this out the door with known issues? I don’t think so.
